Vijay Chandra is currently working as the Registrar (Administration), National Judicial Academy since March 2021. Prior to that, Vijay was working in the cadre of District Judge with his career starting as a Civil Judge in the Madhya Pradesh Judicial Service. In his almost three decades of long judicial career, he worked at different levels in diversified roles viz. Municipal Magistrate & Special Railway Magistrate, Bhopal, Legal Adviser to Lokayukta, Madhya Pradesh and Deputy Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission. Further, Vijay has also been the Chief Judicial Magistrate of District Vidisha and also as the Registrar/Secretary of Madhya Pradesh High Court Legal Services Committee, Jabalpur.

Further, he served as the Registrar (Vigilance) of Madhya Pradesh High Court. He was designated as Member-Secretary, Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur and Secretary to a Committee of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Jabalpur which published a Monumental Book titled "Judicial History & Courts of Madhya Pradesh".

Vijay is an alumni of Delhi University with his Masters in Law (LL.M.) from its Faculty of Law and LL.B. from its Campus Law Center.
